Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary

How does your garden grow?
With Snapdragons, Freesias and Mint.
There is plenty more. Lettuces of many colors.
Sweet Peas are climbing.
Raspberry leaves are popping.
Lavender and Pineapple Sage,
There is Jasmine blooming near the window.
I love Lady Spring.
With all of
My heart.

Enjoying Spring Update

Friday, March 12, 2010

It is 72 degrees and sunny here in Southern California. The breeze is sweet, gentle, but heavy with scent. The bulbs are bursting forth. The lettuce is fat and juicy. Yum.

I was too lazy to upload the actual photos of our garden's bounty. We enjoyed the salad a few days ago, but there is plenty more growing in the garden...Xo.

Elemental Beings

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

I know this isn't what gnomes really look like. But I know I believe in their existence. I see their work in the garden everyday. Just yesterday I was digging a new patch for the blueberries, as I reached below the surface, the soil was rich and dark and filled with worms. I immediately gave the gnomes their do! Thanks for tending the earth regal gnomes! I keep these silly renderings of gnomes in the garden to help me remember the work that is happening below the topsoil. It is a partnership, me and the gnomes.

The Days Of Spring
~

THE days of Spring are here! the eglantine,
The rose, the tulip from the dust have risen--
And thou, why liest thou beneath the dust?
Like the full clouds of Spring, these eyes of mine
Shall scatter tears upon the grave thy prison,
Till thou too from the earth thine head shalt thrust.

And The Rain Comes Down

Ode To The Rain

I can hear it.
I can smell it.
I can feel it.

It is a deep, heavy rain, large drops, filled with crystal clear water.

The fertile spring soil is opening it's arms and heart,

welcoming, greeting, embracing this water
from on high.

Lady Spring

Thursday, March 4, 2010

She is bursting forth in our garden. I peek out the window while doing inside chores, just to see the yellows and purples and reds and whites. It is perfect. All abloom and I have done very little, save for blessing the rain and welcoming it with open arms. Even Lady Spring has welcomed the rain, her mossy hairpiece amid the camellias.

I can be seen daily, squinting at the small leaves busting out of bare branches, coaxing life from the dormant fig fingers. Grow, everyone, grow.

The Best Time To Pray

I am feeling a little on my knees. At least when one is on their knees, one can pray.
