The Ahrimanic Curse

As soon as I free this photograph from the computer, I am going to frame it and put it somewhere in the house...There are many components to this photo that I adore. First: The Spotted Beagle Belly. Second: My First Born, She Who Loathes Animals. Third: My Man-Boy's Long Legged Reflection. This moment was captured in a hotel room in San Francisco. Nice moment. Nice memory.

The New Homestead-Portland, Oregon

Suffice it to say, I have been collecting items for this house my whole life. It is a kooky little house that suits this kooky little family just fine. We are still unpacking, but here are a few corners of our new home. The lamp was a little homemade concoction. I found the scale at a small produce farm that was loosing the lease for their farm store. I was happy to carry a little of their legacy into our home...

Reluctant To Let Go

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

Poppies are in full bloom here in Portland. Giant red umbrellas are nodding their heads up and down our street. All the flowers are in various stages. When I walked by this lovely poppy early in the morning, it was still clinging to it's bud.

"Just a moment longer, please? When my petals feel strong and less vulnerable, you may go..."

When I walked by later in the day, this brave poppy had shed it's bud cocoon and was waving confidently in the afternoon breeze. Well done, you.

We Live In Portland

Monday, June 7, 2010

Well, it is official. We now reside in Portland. So far, we love it. A lot. I found my favorite spot in the house. I can't wait to read and draw and paint in this spot. More photos to come. This isn't the spot, just a cute chair left on the porch...
