Through The Snowy Wood

Through the Snowy Wood we travelled.
To the sea we sailed, through thick snowy, flakes.
The sea was rough and vocal. Sweet and salted.
Rarely calm, yet soothing all the same.
The night hooted and howled, warning us,
"Do not sleep too deeply, for I am always here."
Back to town we creeped, engulfed in winter-white airy flakes.
Here the earth is deeply wet, without the charm of a downy winter suit...

(though I'm heartily glad the spring bulbs are finally starting to pop their sleepy shoots above the earth here!)

still, hot tea with honey tastes all the sweeter when there's snow.
